Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job. The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their…
Yes, and why is that turd’s apology aired on Today? That’s an expensive timeslot, if he feels sorry let him pay for air time to say it.
It’s all part of the same entitled mentality.
I hope every morning he opens his eyes the first thing Matt Lauer realizes that no one likes him, he has no power or influence, his children will be ashamed by their last name, and that his legacy will forever be that of a rapist. Fuck that fuckface.
Rachel Maddow said that night that NBC believed that he was in breach of contract, so he wouldn’t get paid.
Yeah, no. Sexually assaulting someone is not a “flaw”, it is a conscious choice that he made. By comparing it to an innate character trait he is distancing himself from his actions and mitigating responsibility. Fuck him.
Oh Matt...
I heard he spent yesterday driving to his 16 year old son’s prep school to be with him when the story broke and my immediate read of this line was that he was apologizing not to his actual victims, but to his son for embarrassing and hurting him.
Am I the only one who would prefer all of these creeps NOT apologise? It’s not like anyone is gaining anything from the perfunctory ‘I’m sorry if anyone felt bad, I need to soul-search and realise how truly amazing I am - so amazing that I don’t need to rape!’
Ok so I saw the Skeet Ulrich mention and while I don’t actually have a whole lot of feelings about him (mainly I just really enjoyed Jericho and think that show should have run longer!) I did have a ‘oh no he, too?’ moment until I clicked the link.
There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.
Excellent pic choice.
Can we focus on the whole “button his desk that locked his door” thing? Because that’s not exactly a standard office feature. People had to have known about that specific piece of things, and holy shit would that make me awful suspicious of anyone who asked for that to be installed.
The article kind of covers that though. They’re saying that Lauer specifically preyed on women within his own personal fiefdom. I’m sure word got around to other lower level employees who had to work with his “conquests” afterwards and I imagine that most of the upper management knew, but I can buy that they would…
This report really makes the attitude of the anchors on the Today show seem really off. If this was such an ‘open secret’- which I totally believe it was, since that seems par for the course for these kind of guys - then NONE of them should have been as surprised or devastated as they appeared this morning. What a…
The only problem with that analysis (I agree) is that the drunk uncle is currently occupying the White House.
I respectfully disagree. Denying an allegation, even vehemently, does not prove innocence.
I think acknowledging that inevitably there will be a fake allegation somewhere in all of this in advance is important to being able to keep it from derailing all of this painful but healthy and important sunlight.
