You’re thinking purely in US terms. I’m talking globally. Where 60% of Chinese were dirt poor farmers as were their parents and their grandparents. That number is down to 30% now (in China.) Similar changes in wealth have happened in other developing countries.

Capitalism has plenty of problems, but generational poverty is being eliminated quicker under that policy than any other in history.

I work for a consumer product manufacturer, and most of what I’ve seen are Chinese companies using their partner factories in Indonesia or India or wherever to bypass the tariff..

They can do both. And yes, at the end of the day they need to make money. And 5 years from now, when they have a different director of whatever is driving the push towards wellbeing, that mentality can change. But corporations are made up of people, and every person has different things they consider…
