I guess that’s one baseless opinion, but with almost every hetero couple I’ve known where the woman makes more than the man, the larger issue seems to be that the woman throws the disparity in the man’s face every chance she gets, often very publicly — yet if you reverse the gender roles, people would be applauding

It’s a decent article, but there are objective leagues in our society especially when women are choosing a mate they perceive to be lower than is appropriate for their position.

Of course there is “leagues”. It’s why most guys need to go through years of self improvement before most women become interested in them. But yes, that guy does have some major self-doubt, even if there may be good reasons for that doubt.

You have posted more articles today than Kotaku does with a full staff.

But ME 2/3 also came out on the 360.

I never actually thought about this until you brought it up, but you are dead-on. I do have to admit that I quite liked the aesthetic changes to the armor though.

It’s actually a visible thing: ME1 is 1980s sci-fi B-movies, with the people-in-rubber-suits aliens, cheap props and Earthlike alien worlds. ME2 is 1990s sci-fi B-movies, with less nudity, TONS of swearing, blood, guts, mandatory schlocky violent deaths and a sequel hook instead of an ending. ME3 is 2000s sci-fi

Thank you. I’m the only person in my group of friends who loved the...exactly as you phrased it: 1970’s sci-fi cover look. It really did look like a science fiction universe ripped straight from the covers of one of my dad’s old books, especially the suit/helmet designs in ME1. Which, naturally, got replaced with

Exactly why I fell in love with Mass Effect 1: retro futurism like in Logan’s Run, early Star Trek TNG, etc.

The Binary Helix station on Noveria was one of my favorite locales in the entire series. I never really noticed, but it definitely had a brutalist vibe about it, especially the lobby with all the concrete and fountains.

Yep, still looks pretty good! Just nothing like the initial almost-CG quality visuals we saw previously. Maybe this was console footage though? At the very least I hope they allow PC users to crank the game up to 11, even if it’s barely playable that way. Would give the game longer legs, like Crysis had, and make for

So excited to play this, but good god the visual downgrades this game keeps going through... Barely recognizable compared to the original in-game footage from a couple of years back. Especially the city =(

Holy good God, what was that? I feel like I just read a page from the Necromonicon.

Love it! Let's be offended by EVERYTHING!

Can everyone who doesn’t like Apple please comment here and tell us in unison how Apple customers are mindless sheep? Thanks.

Oh come on. Maybe they didn’t laugh, but the ipod/iphone/ipad were all loudly decried from many corners.

Yes. We can’t have nice things because people choose to spend their money on things you do not choose to spend money on. How dare they!

It doesn’t matter. It’s going to sell. People laughed at the iPhone. They laughed at the iPod. It’s going to sell.

They’re going to localize the fuck out of it. They might keep the word Youkai to stand out but there’s good odds it will be renamed Spirit Watch. Otherwise, expect a lot of silliness like onigiri becoming jelly donuts.

This is a fantastic post, Brian! Thank you for writing it up. Really enjoyed seeing the old pictures, especially since I am very familiar with all of the areas in the modern day, frequently going to most of those locations on a weekly basis. That Shinjuku Station picture, especially, was fascinating!
