One of my favorite ideas in Astro City is that there are people who have superpowers and they're just regular people using their powers for mundane purposes. Like the lady who has telekinesis and uses it to help actors with stunt work on TV shows. Or the talking gorilla who keeps getting roped into superhero stuff

Keep predicting that superhero movies are on the way out for enough years and maybe sooner or later you'll be right.

It's been years since I saw it, so I may be misremembering, but my recollection is that it's not stated outright by the interviewees that they broke into the garage without permission so much as implied by the editing and narration. I'll see if I can find a better reference than my memory.

That may not have actually happened, though; Mitchell, at least, has claimed they got permission first and the movie was intentionally misleading on that score.

Yeah, I didn't have a pull list back then, so by the time I noticed #4 was out, #5 was too, so I bought them both. And then wished I hadn't, because if I'd read #4 first I wouldn't have bought #5. Never did buy #6.

I'm not sure if they've released a fix yet or not (I know Kodi has), but if they haven't I'd expect one soon. In the meantime, I'm not aware of any exploits in the wild but it's probably a good idea to avoid subtitle files until the update arrives.

I'm assuming you mean "VLC", not "FLC"; you might want to fix that.

AV CLUB

You know, usually when somebody says "[new guy] ruined [old thing]!" I'm the first guy to say "No he didn't; [old thing] is exactly the same as it's always been."

… I can't believe I missed an opportunity to make a downward spiral / widening gyre joke.

I'm not sure if the massive delays made the tonal shift feel more jarring, or less.

Quiver had that horrifying ending, though. You're cruising along, enjoying yourself, and then BAM, Satanism and child sacrifice out of nowhere.

D'oh, you beat me to it.

Well, not all superhero movies can leverage familiar names like Blade or Kick-Ass.

One of my all time favorite comic storylines involved Black Panther defying the Deviant Lemurians and triggering an international incident with Atlantis, Latveria, and Genosha.

The current Christopher Priest run on Deathstroke has a character named Dr. Villain.

Man, The Evil That Men Do was bad. Really, really bad.

Earth can be any shape you want
At Alice's Restaurant.

I need to take one of those.

Neither do astronauts.
