While I totally agree with you, in our area cops often wear their vests over their uniform, so she could have been carrying it. I’m curious about the first aid packages. Did she do first aid on him? (Which she might take her vest off for, maybe.) Was she there to buy pot? She's lying about something.

We do. Some of it is the Dukes of Hazzard’s fault. (A guy in my small town has a golf cart painted like the General Lee) Some is people who think it stands for being a rebel. (“You fought all the way, Johnny Reb...") And lots is good old fashioned racism.
