The Pope taking a dump?
All I have is a Legoland driving license and a Dennis the Menace fan club badge, and you can take those from my cold, dead hands.
Googling suggests the new cover is actually the main image at the top of the article. The top one of the side images is definitely the old style, so I don't know what the bottom one is (but 100% agree with your assessment of it).
Get out of here with that entirely plausible and equally unamusing explanation.
Know Your Enemy.
This is a whole can of worms (even further complicated by the USA/UK divide on this) for another day I think.
Man, this guy sure ticks a lot of boxes on the Meathead Society application form.
Much as I like the image, I'm too set against publicly carried firearms for that, but that's another story altogether.
I can't help but imagine the scenario where this happens and the "tranny" in question is more than capable of beating the shit out of him, and does (helluva lot of people you wouldn't 'traditionally' expect to be are learning martial arts these days).
I'm currently unemployed.
Very much so. It's also notable that even if you reduce the movie to just it's coolest scenes, he's STILL a long way from ubiquitous.
It's a fine line to walk, but even stripping away the "it was the style of the time" and "it's so cartoony I can't take it seriously" thoughts, there's also something to be said for the general honesty of it: it is what it is and does not pretend otherwise.
I get you, I wasn't really clear at all in that I was factoring in some weight loss: the age makes the weight loss "worse" as skin recovers and changes worse the older you get, so it's even harder to shift the flaps that the weight loss leaves.
I really enjoy most kung fu movies. But, it's very very rare I find one I want to watch more than once.
That's not really a Brit thing as far as this Brit has noticed. We're pretty damn close to the US on this (esp female, but increasingly also male) body image thing, just slightly less extreme.
Dude, what Two Fucks for Bela said.
He's also pushing 64, and I presume not surgically enhanced. He might not like great for a "natural" 63, but he doesn't seem to be out of the normal 'range' for what I expect someone in their 60's to look like.
Kinda like "high art" where it's not just for fun/entertainment, but it's obviously about the deeply personal feelings and conclusions each person draws from the myriad possibilities presented by the subject matter.
"Saxon and Kelly were no match for Lee, in terms of screen presence or screen-fighting ability, and nobody watches a Bruce Lee movie to see the other guys in it."
I dunno about better/worse but it would certainly make the end of Carrie extremely confusing.
