Yah, the book was "Disneyfied" to be accessible to a younger audience. Trivia: Roger Rabbit was the first film produced under Disney's Touchstone production house which they used for productions rated other than "G."
Zemekis' best work was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." And that movie did not keep the book title or anything else except Roger and Jessica Rabbit.
