Indeed! I work at a company that makes fancy capital equipment and am amazed at how everything gets done. Factories are astounding.

I work for one of the suppliers to Ford and can also confirm what the other Engineers are stating. Every single component, down to the piece of tape behind something to give it that extra 0.0005mm thickness has been discussed and scrutinized to levels I couldn’t have previously imagined. And as stated, multiply that

I’ve been working at Ford for 6 years and have launched a few products (F150 and Super Duty plus a bunch of prototype builds of various cars). I feel like I know LESS about how an OEM gets a complete working vehicle out to customers now than I did before I started working.

THIS.  I can’t believe (it’s Brownell, so actually, yeah... I can believe it) that this wasn’t touched on at all in the article.  Nothing about Russell being a Merc Jr. driver, OR, the fact that Toto Wolff is his manager.

“I wanted to travel internationally, but then I realized that was still to close to goddamn Ohio. So I guess I have to go to space instead. It’s the only way I can be assured to not have to deal with anyone from .... wait a second ... this other astronaut is ALSO FROM FUCKING OHIO? I’m going for a (space) walk.”

I’m from Ohio and I do not approve of Ohio.

Roughly half this country has a complete lack of empathy. I’m both angry and sad.

I’m from Ohio and I do not approve this message.

Personally, I’ve done a mix of both, and:

I don’t understand why people car camp when there are these things called tents.

We have an 8KW Solar Array and our Nissan Leaf draws 6KW when it is recharging, just plugged it in to suck up the abundant sunshine over the midwest today.

Great article!

Yeah, that was kinda weird to me too. The lakes where you can access dams here have huge posts with nets well in advance of the dam mouth. Even if you fell overboard, you still wont end up over the edge.

Longhorn Dam on Lady Bird Lake? Peak Texas and achingly insecure. I wonder how many Texans walked right out of Lady Bird when they found out it was set in Sacramento? I’ll bet Greta still gets hate mail.

I read an interview of a person who got caught in the churn at the bottom of a waterfall for like 2 minutes and it spat them out just when they were about to completely black out. That sounds like a truly horrible way to go.

Where I am you almost certainly go through the dam.  Real toss up though between whether you drown, crush under pressure, or get minced first.

I say I need to get one everytime I do mine.

Fumoto valve seems like the better solution, but I guess this would be nice for the first oil change when I need to toss the old plug and install the fumoto.
