True, it’s at least six months away. But I like to throw in a few suggestions for the crowd.

It’s quiet, smooth, fast, and has an excellent stereo. But the fact that it has a very good cruise control system puts it up there, especially with those kinds of regular miles. That’s worth a lot of relaxation and easy driving.

Since the Model 3 has already been suggested, I’m going to go with something nicer, the BMW i4. It’s $55k-$65, has a far better interior and is likely to be altogether more pleasant to drive, and is a lot more distinctive in California. Do the right thing and buy an EV, you won’t regret it, and over the next 260,000…

And if Tesla’s cruise control features work anywhere, they’re likely to work on highways that start or end in SF or LA.

That’s a wild underestimate. I’d be surprised if you can buy many non-electric models by the late 2020s.
