It wasn’t even a great car. It was a reasonable off-roader which was passable as a passenger car. 30 years later these are just unsafe hulks which will hopefully be destroyed in the next cash-for-clunkers scheme.

Nope. The majority of people have ICE cars because EVs are expensive right now, and people tend to hold onto their vehicles for a while. Roadtrip anxieties are a small part of the reason.
