Actually, you reminded me of an interview I watched once, of a professional Premier League footballer who came out. He waited several years and was afraid to come out because in the changing rooms, the other guys would use various homophobic language in their banter.

Racism is definitely a thing. It’s a truly ugly thing. But you can’t let racial abuse beat you down any worse than any other abuse just because it is racism. Do not raise racism to be so lofty that you think it is impossible to overcome.

You say it’s like “how right-handed you are” - these are the kind of bullies who would spend the day writing left-handed really badly if it could get under your skin and make you miserable.

Have fun! It’s a hoot. I have to warn you, there are some unavoidable horrible scenes I thought were pretty distasteful, like the school bus. But most of it is just light and funny and ridiculous.
