in the scene with the pacifier, Noah already knows Joanie's true paternity but is still being a devoted father taking care of her whilst Alison is off somewhere possibly nursing since she appears to be wearing a nurse's uniform in the scene of the arrest. It's clear when Alison sees Cole at the courthouse that she

This isn't a crusade. It's an opinion about a TV show. The characters are fictional. They go home at the end of the day as their real selves. I have nothing against Ruth Wilson ( loved her in Luther) or Dominic West. You need to get out more!

Alison and Noah have known since the night of the 'accident'. They've kept Cole's fatherhood from him for all these many months. So Noah has been complicit in all Alison's lies. It'll be fascinating to see how all this plays out. Helen will no doubt counter with her own confession, and then the real question is

Um, maybe because so far she's shown that she's willing to lie about anything…Plus these POV's seem to be all about self deception and conceit,

Or so she says! Can we believe anything that Alison claims?

I'm still unwilling to automatically believe anything this woman claims. Months after the wedding Cole is still none the wiser as to Joanie being his daughter, and Helen is in the dark about Alison's involvement in Scotty's death. She is a pathological liar!

Alison is the only witness to what happened between her and Scotty, so we're unlikely to ever know the truth of what occurred between them that fateful night. Our little heroine is not known for her honesty, and she is quite happy to encourage Noah to turn on Helen who has yet to be told of Alison's involvement in

Um yes, Alison says Scotty tried to rape her..and we all know what an honest and reliable witness she has proved to be.

I think these inconsistencies occur when a series is created in such an ad hoc fashion by a team of writers so that the voice and storyline are sometimes incoherent. What is consistent is that far from Noah and Alison/s relationship being a testimony to 'true love', it is in fact a horrible salute to pathology.

The trial takes place months after the wedding, and Alison and Noah are happily ensconced in their love nest having still failed to reveal Cole's fatherhood to him. Helen looks ill in all the future present scenes, no doubt tormented by het involvement in the death of Scotty. Alison on the other hand is as cold as ice.

Given that Noah spells it all out for us in this episode: that Alison saved him from 'being trapped in a miserable marriage' to Helen, and that he was 'being brave' by choosing to 'be happy', I think we can safely assume that Noah's outburst in court was to protect Alison and not Helen. He is conniving enough to

He is still a loathsome character. He has kept Alison's involvement in the accident from Helen, and so she is burdened with the guilt of believing that she is solely responsible for Scotty's death. He is complicit in keeping Joanie's true paternity from Cole, and in all likelihood would keep it from Joanie as she

Yes, and it's so lovely that he's willing to be complicit with Alison in hiding Joanie's true paternity from Cole, and no doubt Joanie is also never meant to know who her real father is. For someone who lost a child, Alison is overwhelmingly detached and disinterested in her daughter. What wonderful parents these

This horrible, conniving pair taint everything that they touch. I've no doubt that Alison deliberately pushed Scotty in front of the oncoming car, and wasn't fending him off as she maintained. She and Noah are complicit in hiding Joanie's true paternity to Cole even months after it is revealed. Worse still, they have

Perhaps that is because Alison is responsible for that version of what happened, and honesty, trustworthiness and reliability are not her greatest strengths.

The Affair has this kind of grim hold on me as a viewer Even as I cringe each week, as it descends into melodrama and strains the bounds of credulity, I am drawn to watch it, and more than that read the reviews and yes! even the comments with a type of morbid fascination. There are so many inconsistencies that gnaw at

in season 1 she's listed as Alison, and it's clearly visible when she calls to let him know of Whitney's arrival in Montauk. Perhaps in the interim, the great Noah Solloway has gotten the phone numbers of so many 'Alisons", he needs to differentiate his own fiancé with her surname.

In several of the photo stills, Aliosn is heavily pregnant at the trial. There are also several pointed close ups of her reassuringly laying her hand on Noah's manly knee so quite clearly the lovebirds ultimately overcome their difficulties. Perhaps Alison tired of having to bleat 'I love you' ad nauseum to Noah

That was Oscar saying Alison never had a heart.

Given the limitations of her intellect, her lack of self discipline and the considerable restraints of motherhood, and being married to a demanding socialite, she'd fail so many years, she'd be in her 50's by the time she qualified.
