“I cracked up when Chidi’s video turned out to be three hours long. I know it was supposed to demonstrate Eleanor’s fascination with him and moral philosophy, but it also showed how Chidi himself has a long way to go before he’s earned his Good Place, too. If it took him an hour to pick out a fedora, of course his

This drives me crazy. I’m also driven crazy by the people who crow about how awesome practical effects are in movies that have literally thousands of digital fx shots (Fury Road), and I’m driven crazy by people who complain about the CG in shots that actually used a lot of practical effects (Ghostbusters).

Syfy overhauled their programming philosophy a couple years back and now do a good bit of actual science fiction/fantasy/horror.

Frell.

Everything she says has been aged in oak barrels.

The line broke on “shit” on basic cable years ago. Fuck is a new frontier from most shows/channels.

I would suggest that if finding action and fights is that big a consideration, PUBG may not really be the game for you. I’m not trying to be condescending or snarky. I firmly believe that a critically important part of the game is the periods of waiting and silence and tension, and noises get nearer and farther away,

It’s a slow paced shooter that allows for a wide variety of gameplay styles from aggressive to passive, from twitchy to strategic.

The large open spaces give a huge advantage to longer range sniper style players and a huge disadvantage to stealth/flanker/hider/ambusher types (I’m the latter, to be transparent).

“it’s lame as hell for the station to knife one of its own employees just because he made Tom Brady mad.”

She’s the daughter of Bruce Dern, right? He was kinda a gonzo weirdo back in the day, so maybe he upbringing and personality are more interesting than it might first seem.

Yep. Look, the in-game model is the in-game model, I can live with its limitations, so long as the results are decently consistent/accurate. Don’t put the renderer for the character creator in some separate magic world my actual character will never live in. If you want, set up a special “selfie mode” or “glamour

If Brady put together some kind of real show spotlighting his kid, I’d agree with you. But this was just a couple minutes of “Brady with his family” footage to close out the show. Attacking the kid based on that is pretty jerky and as a father Brady is well within his rights to call foul on it.

A bunch of white people are running around in multiplayer online games speaking in broken pretend African for comedic purposes, and one of the main catchphrases from that mockery is now being put into text memes.

My big issue with the first two movies is that the connection between everything that happens in the first movie and the worldbuilding revelations in the second movie seem super dumb and nonsensical. It’s like

Make a movable wall out of plywood. Add a little padding at the top so he doesn’t mess up his knuckles if he hits it. Place the wall in front of him and tell him he can’t move his feet. Force him to shoot 100 shots every day without his hands or the ball touching the wall. Just physically don’t allow him to make these

I’m saying the actual politics (communist, anti-communist, pro or anti civil rights, etc) clearly have affected nominations in the past.

I liked the Remake film okay, in terms of wanting to comment on the ethics of drone warfare and such. But it was too restrained. After the savage R rated satire of the original Robocop, the PG-13 remake came off as competent but bland.

I think that’s a pretty rosy, ahistorical take. The Academy Awards started in the late 20's. I’m pretty certain through Jim Crow and the Civil Rights protest era, McCarthyism, Stonewall, etc the Oscars have been plenty political.

Every once in a while you get a movie year that’s just incredible, packed with classics (at least when viewed in retrospect). In return, it stands to reason that occasionally you get a year here or there where the crop of movies are good but not great. Doesn’t seem to be something to really be disheartened about.
