I’ve always wondered why Darius Rucker never put out a solo album entitled “Hootie Is My Slave Name”

+1 jetpack

Right? It drives me nuts when people hand-wring over a player wanting more money from the team, or taking a pay increase to go elsewhere. This is a business, and these guys have a limited number of years to earn ALL their money. It’s that simple. These owners are crusty billionaires, usually through old family money.

If there is a silver lining here, as the NFL becomes more and more nakedly capitalistic, you will hopefully have less people feeling righteous indignation when the players try to take a bigger piece of the pie from the owners, who they seem to believe create the value and graciously pay the players.

...and in an odd way, it wasn’t until he lifted the team up from San Diego and forced it to play on a kind of aircraft carrier thing that could fly and also be a boat and wasn’t directly connected to any particular populace or geography at all that Spanos could SEE the damage he wrought, and the tarnished legacy he

This whole thing is so goddamn stupid.

Not to mention, why the hell is The D.E.N.N.I.S. System so low?! And Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody’s Ass. ROCK FLAG & EAGLE!!!!!!!!

The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention isn’t even top 100?!? INTERVENTION! INTERVENTION!

That Frank intervention episode is fire. That’s a top 20 episode, not a bottom 20 episode.

Chardee MacDennis isn’t top 5?!

The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention being ranked 115 immediately invalidates the rest of this list.

It’s almost like 3/4ths of the NFL ownership caste and the President-elect are inheritance cases who, if forced to re-earn the family fortune from blank, would end up in a rathole apartment building, dodging calls from reposessors.

I used to work in an area which was populated by many of these people you speak. These people came from families in which no one had worked in several generations, and were living off family money made during the industrial revolution. Because of that, they were all incredibly socially awkward and completely detached

So completely agree. The same people who say that raising the minimum wage kills the worker’s incentive to create his own business or opportunities, they’re the ones trying to kill the ‘death tax’ so they can leave their obscene fortunes intact to their dissolute progeny.

There will always be a sucker somewhere. Some mayor who’s convinced himself that his town needs a sports team to be BIG TIME and will throw the police pension after it to get it.

Counterpoint: it’s a win-win situation (for anyone who enjoys seeing the NFL getting its comeuppance.)

God, the schadenfreude will be palpable if NFL owners end up paying for a new San Diego stadium after the publicly-funded option was soundly rejected. Perhaps this will embolden municipalities everywhere.
