Because ‘back in the day’ the engine formulas weren’t so complex and, generally speaking, there were usually a handful of competitive engine builders for any given season. So there was less emphasis placed on totally maximizing the technology and the rules.

My favorite is the Lada Niva, Cossack edition.

This is a great story and I’m glad Hurley Haywood has been able avoid the worst of the stigmatization which is so prevalent. Cynically, I have to wonder if he would have had a similar experience had he not already been a very successful racer; the respect of his peers may or may not be contingent upon the fact he was

The *shape* of the torque curve, and its relevance at less-than-max-RPM/power, is my point. The turbo brings much more torque, much sooner, to a useful RPM range on the Miata. Even if I only ran the turbo at 6-8psi I’d still get those benefits, with comparable peak power to the MP62. Area under the curve FTW.

So I went and checked this today. 5k RPM in 3rd gear is 40mph, that’s what I’m really talking about. 2nd and 3rd gear, in moderate traffic. Responsiveness and practical gearing makes the Miata feel its most fleet of foot in those conditions. My ‘96 has a 4.1:1 rear end so fairly short, but by the time you’re in 4th

I find different engines work better with one or the other. I’ve owned 1.8L Miatas which used both (at different times). The first was a GT25-ish ball bearing turbo, the second was an MP62 positive-displacement supercharger.

Faceted storage for all my gold chains.

...not with a 2.0L 4-cyl it doesn’t...

What do you even call this? Above and beyond? Insanely good? I don’t know.

It was a graveyard smash...

How has nobody suggested the LR3/LR4 twins? My LR3 was totally reliable if you stayed on top of the regular maintenance, and if you have a good indy shop around who knows about the weird little things that might go wrong, you can stay on top of those too.

TSX TSX TSX. RLX dude, nobody TLX like this normally. I’m a former pun doctor in casual pants — a MD-X in SLX, if you will.

RLy? She doubtless has enough Integraty. I’m TLing you, she’ll come through.

My in-laws have a ‘95 Saab 900 which was left parked for ~2.5 years after its AC died and the independent dealer wanted $2k to fix it. I convinced them to let me try and get it going again. All of the following were dead/broken/inoperative, and have been brought back to life. It’s now running, has a reconditioned

Assuming I’m not an extroverted blowhard, is the noise level spouse/neighborhood-compatible? Does it have Variable Irritability Resonance Indicator Level Exhaust, like the ‘18 Mustang? Does it have a crowd-avoidance radar autopilot system, like no Mustang ever?

Silly FK, one doesn’t use a submarine, the chiffon won’t tolerate the dank humidity inside. And did you have a fresh pair of heels waiting up top following the climb up the hill?

The only reference I found (before I made my first post, BTW) to fiscal benevolence from relatives was him borrowing $500 when he got back from the Navy to start his first business. Admittedly, I don’t know if he ever paid it back.

This car belonged to Herb Chambers, who commutes by helicopter from CT to MA. Owns a large number of high end car dealerships, self-made man. Estimated net worth $1.2B. Mid-70s.

This is a picture of me stretching an accessory belt.
