But gay marriage is part of what I'm talking about. That was a way to promote a cause by allowing it to conform to the status-quo's frame of acceptability. This is why you'll find a lot of LGBT activists against gay marriage, because their real concerns aren't the fitting into a hetero-christian normative ideal of

Lindy. That anal joke.

No, I get you and I agree. This is my problem with liberationist movements like feminism - the important ideas get locked behind the ivory tower or in the small radical grass-roots movements that won't get any positive media attention. Ultimately, though, I feel as if capitalism is the real threat to truly

You'll find though, that in the higher levels of feminism in its corporate and money-laced splendor, the more radical ideology of feminism is left behind in favor of what can be fit into mainstream acceptability. A lot gets ignored at that level that is needed for real change. Feminism isn't an accessory, it's a way

Okay this is beautiful.

I really wish more people would learn what racism actually is before saying stuff like this.

That would be amazing, Totally Biased was so good and so not ready to be cancelled.

Those pictures of you and Russell Brand are amazeballs. *this was suppose to reply to Lindy*

The defensiveness of people in power is not my responsibility. It's not up to me to change my language because most people can't get themselves out of the way. Saying "most men" or "some men" only allows most men to go on believing they don't have a role to play in my oppression. Men do have the power to stop male

I can hope.

You did, by conflating it with institutionalized racism. Those men aren't in prison because they are men, it's because they are men of color. Feminists aren't stereotyping men by believing that their dominance is predatory, they are protecting themselves and shedding light on the violence inherent in sexism.

That defensiveness is only one emotional response though. It's okay that you feel it, but maybe try to sit with it and figure it out. Another emotional response you can have might be anger, anger that so many men feel so entitled to women and their bodies that they will take them by force and even take their lives.

Not all stereotypes!

Thank you for this.

Because it's never about characterizing them as monsters, it's pointing out men's participation in oppression. If I got butthurt every time someone pointed out to me that I, as a white person, have contributed to a complex system of oppression of people of color, I would never be able to see where I am complicit in

They can fucking shut up for once, it won't kill them or be anything fucking near gender-based violence.

No, it only helps people feel better about themselves without having to challenge any assumption about their own participation in an unjust society.

I call bullshit.

not all the menz

oh wait...not all men!
