The idea that men aren't free to explore and embody femininity is part of patriarchy.

It's pretty comical that you held a door for someone and then they told you you were being rude.

You're right. I'm so stupid.

Hey, I'm just expressing how difficult it was to read. It could have gone either way in my mind, but this was pretty graphic. Maybe we should respect that? I wasn't trying to be critical of the original poster, but I didn't know it was going to be that tough when I started reading.

While I'm interested in the information, I wasn't expecting it to be that graphic. Other commenters expressed similar feelings. I wasn't criticizing the original poster, I think it's great information, but I thought I'd remark on how terrifying it was to read because my PTSD was triggered.

There isn't a source for that because it's not true.

Maybe a trigger warning here? Thank you for posting, I didn't even know anyone had bothered to typify rapists. Really difficult to read though.

I think the fact that most of the female characters are so fucking three dimensional also speaks to his respect for women. I think you qualify as a feminist writer if you portray women as nuanced complex and real human beings. Plus, even though this isn't a movie, it passes the Bechdel test with flying colors.

A friend of mine, 32 years old, is in the hospital right now battling this thing. What a fucking nightmare.

“Out of trillions of organisms that were alive at the beginning of time, are alive now and will be alive at the end of time, only one tampers with its food. You do not want to bet against those kinds of odds.”

Also, everyone educate yourselves-

This is really well done, Lindy. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have to spell it all out like this. However, it really does help me take that initial frustration to hearing MRA tripe- my usual emotional response bubbling up in my throat and choking me with, "You're so dumb. So blind. So dumb.",- and try

I'm Christian and I've never experienced bigotry. Nothing hateful or threatening, nothing daring to compromise my rights as a human being or policing my personal life. The thing that bothers me the most is the conflating of all Christianity with the fundamentalist Christian Right. But this is mostly justified,

"Series creator Lena Dunham is committed to portraying life as a 20-something in New York as realistically as possible." http://newyorknatives.com/new-york-natives-presents-lifeminute-tv-hbo-costume-designer-chats-fashion/#.UVOdmo5wz_c

I really have to agree with you. No matter anyone's personal opinion of her, she gets way too much action on Jez. And I have yet to read a real critique of her work here- which I think perpetuates some pretty negative stereotypes about women under the guise of a"realistic" portrayal of 20 somethings in NY.

Your dad sounds like my dad. In one of my many subtle attempts to prove to my dad that sexism exists, I shared my observation that almost every chocolate commercial portrays women having some kind of sexual experience. He replied that it was because women have some hormones in their brains that reminds them of sex

gosh i wish people would stop using the word 'equalism'. Its usage only reveals that you know absolutely nothing about what you're supposedly arguing against.
