The dude literally got a case of the vapors because he saw some signs that he didn’t like while traveling across the great state of Nebraska.

This is ironic because people like Shilling spouting non-sense is not “helping America” by writing uninformed lazy dip-shit throwaway sentences like that. It’s almost as if it the exact opposite of the inclusivity and tolerance that is stamped on the flag he oddly and proudly bears.
This has to be one of the most intelligent comments I’ve ever read on Jalopnik. Thank you for that.
If the stock goes down again, does he get his money back?
There are many people who have assets that have unrealized gains... like unrealized gains in the appreciation of their house.
Because the recipient didn’t do a goddamn thing to earn it maybe?
If you get paid in stock, you’re taxed at market value for regular income at the time you receive it. Capital gains tax should tiered, just like normal income tax. The tiers should go higher than they currently do for both capital gains and income tax. Hell....why not do away with capital gains and tax it all like…
People like to discount the slippery slope argument, just because it’s one of those arguments that has a name.
How about the opposite, when markets crash due to insane government polices?... are they going to PAY US for unrealized loses?
This is a big part of why political elections tend to focus on social issues, they’ll argue about gay marriage or abortion endlessly as long as you let them rob you blind.
Right, perhaps. But it’s spectacularly bad policy and immoral to tax paper gains.
Every time I’ve seen a tax implemented in my life, over the long term they widen the scope of it. I’d bet on them lowering until just-above-average people are paying it, then introducing loopholes for the ultra-rich.
I think the problem is that the middle class are probably taxed too much, and the wealthy are right on that line, too.
Dude, I commend you, but these auto execs are the same dweebs that have been forcing anyone who doesn’t want to sit on burlap to take the boring-ass CVT. It’s like trolling enthusiasts is why they get out of bed everyday.
You act like the mountains are gravel roads or middle-of-nowhere... this is high priced real estate.
I’d have taken a twin-turbo version of the same thiing at the same power. I live above 7k ft - this makes less HP than the stock C7 at sea level :(
Assets being illiquid is not the same as “not existing,” “fake money,” “only on paper,” etc.
Who said anything about doing that shit for less than cost?
GM product names are dumb AF. “Denali Ultimate?”
Ford is 100% the Cheddar Bob of the automotive industry.
