Was that a fatty grunt?
Was that a fatty grunt?
It doesn't quite appear this way in the article, but the phrase "making lemonade out of lemons too gruesome to contemplate" is going to enter my daily lexicon.
She's the WORST. She famously got her own copy editor assigned to her in the late aughts after a two year stretch where she was responsible for a staggering fifty corrections. Nepotism can't explain why she's still around. She's a liability.
Since—but how about before? Because I think you need to see Mr. Show. Tobias Funke, Saul Goodman, Pete Hornburger…and then Brian Posehn, Scott Aukerman, Paul F. Tompkins. It's a White Guys of Comedy masterclass.
Yes! This! It started out as this incredibly weird and dark social satire, and there was a ton of riffing about how boring and shitty small-town Ohio is, and all the characters were written really precisely. It was, if anything, kind of a sarcastic bummer. I loved that show's first few episodes.
Are we forgetting the time the HTC One X had pack-in Beats? (Yeah, they're not great headphones, but they're insanely good for pack-ins.)
Yeah but to be fair...that's a damn good lookin' dog.
It's possible. It's possible it's taking so long because Rockstar is incapable of making a well-optimized game on any platform.
There is no bathroom but what we make for ourselves.
Very hard to ignore a certain level of violent misogyny—a level that's risen to a personal attack campaign.
Well done with your avatar by the way. ;)
This, though. This.
By the Seven, that Iron Throne with a flame-breathing dragon skull....
I think there's a kernel of truth in this, but equivocating between both sides ignores that there's one side populated by assholes, slavering misogynists, and at least one popular and proudly self-professed "real fascist" (!), and one side populated by embattled developers and at least one woman who's being threatened…
God bless Gawker Media at large for getting fucking serious about moderation. I have hope for this whole damn site. Yeah, the graytext sucks in the short term, but it's so much more pleasant to talk here in the last week. (I've done it a ton more, for myself, and I'd be curious to see what the comment traffic has…
I agree with all of those points! Especially your last paragraph! I don't think that was quite the argument you were making earlier...my understanding of your argument was that making Daryl gay was inherently patronizing. I think that's a really inhibiting and problematic attitude for creating and critiquing fiction,…
All right. I'm getting hung up on something you've gone slightly back on here. Earlier, you said "Daryl as gay, especially if done in a "point-of-the-whole-episode" manner, would be tone deaf and contrived," with no room for argument. (This was, as I understood it, the core of your argument.) I said that I didn't…
It's upsetting that you don't think that a character's non-straight sexuality wouldn't help provide an excellent perspective on issues of morality, trust, betrayal, and people pushed past the limits of their circumstances. I think that kind of thematic world would be an amazing place for a gay character to inhabit.…
I don't think we're going to agree on the point that, as you say, "regular" dramas can't or shouldn't include gay characters. You seem content to relegate gay characters or characters coming out of the closet to shows which include bundles of social issues to start with. I'm not a social issue. I'm a person, as are…
