Threatening players to play hurt? That’s just old school, smash-mouth stuff.

Wtf, they’re still this injured?? :(

This dude asked for a max???

What other cultures refer to each other by slurs? I notice you gave no example.

Even still. If the context of the girls singing along to a song isn’t sufficient, what makes this context of him troll posting someone sufficient?

Definitely generational. I’m young and white but grew up with an older brother and that word was strictly off-limits. Yet now I hear white and other non-black people younger (and even my age) use it and I notice lots of black kids don’t have a problem. Seems a bit ridiculous to indirectly tell people they need to get

Dishonesty: so hot right now

Also good so that your family doesn’t think you’re a piece of shit for never participating in their group messages

I think “slaps” is the proper terminology. As in, that shit slaps.

Yeah her response was pretty selfish and not very thoughtful but I can’t say I wouldn’t respond similarly as a 20 year old if I had put myself in such a position. I have no idea if anyone involved is a bad person (since their actions here do not inform us such) and so I don’t think they should be demonized. That is

They are well-intentioned and not reactionary at least. That’s all I really care about. Other people in the comments are the embodiment of white guilt and virtue signaling. I hate to be that guy, but Jesus. Even with them I don’t think it is their intent to “virtue signal” but they clearly haven’t thought through

We have different definitions of racism, which is fine. I understand yours. But I don’t consider ignorance racism. Racism, to me, is illogical, whereas ignorance makes perfect sense. It is simply a lack of knowledge, understanding, whatever.

It’s hilarious that this is the first time this is being brought up (that I’ve seen). The song is literally a meme about this comment section.

Thank you for the dialogue. Just to clarify, I don’t have the intent to change connotations of the word, particularly not for the entire country. (I just enjoy the conversation. It’s interesting to me)

Exactly. What upside? You said you see no upside in white people using it. I asked why you specified white people. It would appear to me that the word is either harmful/offensive or it isn’t. Or at least the intention is.

Why do you only fail to see the upside when it’s a white person using it? Shouldn’t black people be even more repulsed when using it? Where is the logic there? Would it not be far more beneficial to remove the taboo and turn it into just another slang term? That would seem to me to remove any power the word has.

I agree. But awareness of the history and effects of the word and use of the word itself are not mutually exclusive.

Of course not. And the lack of awareness of the girl filming, and subsequently posting, is absolutely stunning. But let’s also not pretend that someone singing along to a song by themselves is necessarily harmful to anyone.

This is a better point. But to begrudge anyone who says the word and assume they are racist and/or ignorant is ridiculous. I don’t use the word, but the double standard makes no sense. Even black people admit it. The amount of times I’ve heard “it is what it is.” Which is fine. But how much of the outrage in these

You mean like the differences in context between quoting a song lyric and using a racial slur with the intention of hurting someone?
