I hear ya. I only was ungreyed this summer, after almost 4 years of commenting and 8 of lurking. I still don’t know why, especially since I was re-greyed after a day, then ungreyed for good 3 days after that. Jeezus that was stressful!
Getting out of the greys is so hard. We have to comment early and have to be twice as clever as everyone else or have a totally unique comment to get recognition. You’re definitely not the only one. There was a long thread about it close to a year ago and I’ve had several other convos with people other times as well. I’ve always hoped they would knock it off but realistically that won’t happen. I’ve also thought about confronting some of them too. Ugh.
Definitely agree on that point. I comment more on Jez bc it’s familiar and my perspective as a WOC is not as common. And I love the goofy celebrity nonsense. I have only commented 2-3x on The Root bc someone much more insightful than me usually has said it first.
