I used to work nearby Times Square, and it was so awful that I would add to my commute time by walking around that black hole of humanity.

first Winona, now Ally Sheedy. Hollywood has rediscovered all my teen 80's crushes
Show jumping, not steeplechase. Georgina Bloomberg has been competing at the top level for a while, she’s well-known in the sport. As is Jessica Springsteen. Bruce has been spotted in the barns at events.
There are plenty of working professional horse people who really do use that money to cover entry fees and travel expenses and stuff like that. Granted, you have to have a lot of money to participate in the first place (or be an awesome rider who has sponsors).
I don’t know if Ellie was being snarky or not regarding the charity that Georgina started. It’s part of the Pegasus program now, which provides therapeutic riding for children and adults with disabilities — physical, cognitive, mental and social. It does help a lot of people, not to mention saving the cast-off horses…
Georgina Bloomberg shatters the mold of the Millennial socialite. The 32-year-old daughter of Forbes Billionaire List member Michael Bloomberg and Susan Brown is an accomplished equestrian, inspiring single mother, passionate animal activist and YA author of a series of riding-inspired books that are soon to become a…
It depends, but often *someone* involved could use the money. At the more prestigious shows, there’s the rider, the trainer, and the owner. The owner is usually the one with the $$$$ and depending, the prize may get split between the rider and/or the trainer and/or the owner.
No mention of the role she’s ACTUALLY best known for, Amy Pond from Doctor Who? FOR SHAME.
It’s done by the company on purpose. I design POS software and integration pieces. While the stores have mandatory ‘close’ times in application so sales are forwarded, they can be updated to not manually do this. It’s all configurable. This is corporate asshattery at it’s worst.
This. I’d like to believe this isn’t deliberately baked into the system, but at the very least auto-logging employees out and then expecting managers to take the time to manually adjust everyone’s hours is a situation begging for exploitation.
Why do they have a time clock that can’t log the correct time? It should not log people out automatically. Chipotle, pay the workers.
besides the fact, what reason have we (collectively) given people of color to feel swells of patriotic pride??? I mean, slavery, mass incarceration, cycles of poverty, discrimination left right and center. I don’t blame any black person for not feeling that into the national anthem.
The national anthem should be about the 2 vast oceans that naturally disincline any wouldbe predators.
Also sports still exist in monarchies and autocracies...
Christie argued more employees would be replaced by automated kiosks at small businesses if the state continues to hike its minimum wage.
I agree. I loved the season they did with Julia Styles as Lumen though.
A younger Serena introduces a possible and maybe even provocative twist.
Nothing to add here, but reading a Margaret Atwood-related thread full of lit nerds arguing about whether 34 is too young for Serena Joy (ok, I am also on that side of the argument) made me ridiculously happy this morning.
Women are blamed for it but it comes out in pieces that it’s probably actually a problem on the male side. But of course nothing can possibly be the man’s fault, so…
