I’d recommend looking up the few works of Satoshi Kon, who did several films and one series (all fantastic. I mean, damn, this Paprika opening). Also Summer Wars, The Girl who Leapt Through Time, and The Boy and the Beast. There’s Tekkonkinkreet too, a movie that is really unsually style wise but also really fun.

I don’t mind Trish’s arc, I hate that she got rewarded for it. She fucked everyone (POOR MALCOLM), assaulted her friends, murdered someone, and then still got superpowers in the most bullshit contrived way possible. She doesn’t feel bad about anything she did. I can only see her as the villain now.

All-Stars was how I started watching the show and it was a slap in the face to go back to Blais’ original season and realize what a douche that guy was. They did some master craft level editing on All-Stars.

Halfway through I realized all the far more interesting red herrings were all just going to be, “a mom did it.” Why did this weird thing happen? A mom did it. How will we deal with this twist? A mom. What happened to...oh, ok, mom again.

Watching randos scramble frantically to get out of the way of the flash mob is its own special fun.

There is no difference. The bar to “art” is low and bars no one from entry. Some art may be trash, or disposable, in insignificant (and it may be all of those things, and maybe even on purpose), that doesn’t make them less “art” than the stuff made for museums, the cinema, or other “serious art venues.”

JJ2 was such a disappointment. It didn’t even have anything to say about moms or draw parallels between the moms. Just...#MOMPROBLEMS.

I liked Ant Man alright but all the memorable moments were very clearly from Edgar Wright, and I’m disappointed he didn’t get to actually make the movie he wanted. I don’t know what it would have been “better” but it would certainly have been more interesting.
