You keep saying I’m lying without offering any support for this, but say I’m this dishonest one, I’m the one twisting words. Again, free speech is not absolute and a variety of institutions are mandated to post informative signage all the time. Again, this signage is used to prevent fraud and protect the public,

I’m not going to research your argument for you. I’ve repeatedly explained my position and I’ve avoided calling you names. I’ve repeatedly asked you to explain yourself, which you’ve avoided, called me names, and then dodged around by claiming I’m the intellectually dishonest one.

You’re the one that keeps having to pull out personal insults. I’m citing pretty specific examples for why your argument is faulty. That you chose to ignore this and call me a jackass mostly makes your position look weak and uninformed, and that’s aside from the fact that your “strict standard” is easily counterable

Ah, I see you’re an absolutist about the First Amendment who doesn’t understand that the United States doesn’t work that way. Here is a crash course: We require this sort of speech all the time.

It’s difficult to have a conversation when you’re evading my questions and refusing to explain your position. The California statue doesn’t require these organizations to give information about government programs. It requires two signs to be posted, they read as follows:

That doesn’t answer my question at all, “generally” or otherwise.

How would you feel about a place that presented itself as an immigration firm, advertised as an immigration firm, and treated people who came to them as if they were immigration experts, but had no one one staff who was a lawyer, nor had ever practiced or studied law in any capacity?

If anyone was going to use Papyrus, it was going to be this guy.

I agree with this as someone who hides their beer in a special beer chamber under their stairs near my printing station. No errant guests/relatives are getting my rum-barrel stout.

So...fraud. They want to argue that committing fraud is a form of free speech. Their right to lie about health, medicine, reproduction, and whatever else they lie about is more important that their victim’s right to not be defrauded.

The trigger for them to send you the form isn’t the trigger for you to report the income. You do still have to report it whether they send you the form or not. HOW you report it is the debate. Kickstarter? Income, flat out, not a gift, with the possible exception of the organization being tax-exempt. GoFundMe? It

That depends on how she does her accounting. There’s two ways people do accounting. Cash Accounting has you reporting income the year it was received. Accrual accounting has you reporting income the year it was earned, whether you received it that year or not. The IRS only cares if you use your method consistently.

$20,000/200 donations is the threshold at which companies will send you a 1099-K form. That is NOT that same as getting a cheque from your grandma, which would still be taxed if she gave you $14,000 or more. Not all “gift money” is un-taxed. And I’m pretty sure you don’t get to break down all that money into

All GoFundMe, Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc, count as income. It’s one of the reasons that some of these crowd-funding projects fail, people forget to take into account the taxes they’ll have to pay on the money they receive. It’s also a reason people prefer to do Kickstarters at the beginning rather than end of the

“Minnie Mouse vacations in Hawaii.”

That’s part of their trap by design. When you buy stock, you don’t get to pick the pattern. There’s a mix of mostly garbage and some stuff people people actually want, so if you want to get more of the stuff that sells you have to buy more boxes of random inventory. I think you’re only allowed to purchase items by

Domestic/partner violence is often treated as an argument that got out of hand. Someone (re: the woman) provoked someone into violence. Everyone just needs to calm down and cool off, he didn’t mean to shove you (are you sure it was a shove? Did you maybe just spontaneously fall down?).

My grandmother never spent so much as 15 seconds in England, but she had her sister ship her magazines from Germany every month so she could keep up on Royal Gossip.

6 cases going to trial means 6 cases going to trial. It does not include the number of cases that were settled without going to trial, or the number of women who quit, or the number of women who put up with harassment rather than lose their jobs.

Oh shudder, SHUDDER. I haven’t seen that interview but I don’t doubt that interviewer framed it like, “Poor Hoff.” So far a lot of their consequences seems to be bad press (which they should have gotten before when they straight up admit to this shit in interviews), but I’m hopeful it will have an impact.
