You can’t say any film is one of the “best” if it’s so new you haven’t seen it. And even the older films included here have some poor grades.

The Mad Max films have never returned to an earlier location after the baddies were dealt with. Yes, they’ve never had a prequel either, but the one constant is that things are crappy at the beginning and Max doesn’t stick around.

I don’t know if Nick has worked with JJ. And it is odd that Fukunaga would do that with an experienced writer, which as Rogers Aching Ticker points out is the sort of thing you’d expect a more young & naive person to put up with.

Number of seasons on Netflix: 1

Also, it appears the writers of this film previously wrote for The Onion. No mention of that above. Is there no longer any brand synergy?

I don’t think Fanning has done as much horror. There was Neon Demon, and that’s about it as far as I recall.

Not everybody has watched those.

Paul Schrader dumped on Harvey Weinstein’s professional behavior entirely aside from him being a sex pest (I believe that’s the term used across the pond). Here is the larger set of quotes from Nick in the RS article:

Nick Cuse worked with Damon Lindelof on The Leftovers, Watchmen & The Hunt. So he has worked with Damon & Cary, with the latter being the worst. It is true that I never actually watched Lost but wanted to joke about the poor reception of its finale anyway.

I was surprised Cuse went on the record with that superlative. Lindelof haters must now accept that Damon is not the worst, however bad the Lost finale might be.

Has he been charged with anything?

decidedly unhappy potrait->”decidedly unhappy portrait”

we hope you’re happy

It appears that the Chinese funders pulled out and his old patches were back in the actual movie, though not the trailer:

26 years? Does the AV Club currently employ children who believe Top Gun came out in 1996?

“What do I know? I’m a murderer.”

Johnny Rotten claims that he wanted the Pistols to be the very last rock band. He thought he was doing something revolutionary.

I don’t remember any of the movie-within-the-movie.

Always worth reading on the subject of libraries banning books:

Frank Fay did once come up in the comments here, but it’s been a while. I’m not sure if Chapelle has ever heard of that earlier proto-standup.
