Yes, unfortunately Kinja wouldn’t let me edit my comment after the first time someone pointed that out, so I expect I’ll be getting more of that. The other one was supposed to be Road to Perdition.

If this was Disqus I think the gap in time would be short enough that I could add an edit to my original comment clarifying my mistake, but as this is Kinja I must instead link to another comment:
Doh, I meant to write Road to Perdition for the second film, which was just ok. If I had bothered to include a bit comparing it to Lone World and Cub and how Logan imitated it more memorably, perhaps I would have noticed my mistake.
I still think American Beauty is just plain bad. The only other thing from him I’ve seen is American Beauty, which I guess is ok as far as I recall. Maybe he’s a better stage than film director.
Was Noah Baumbach really a “heavyweight” prior to Marriage Story?
When I think “gimmick commenter”, I usually think of the “reposted comment” accounts. But if you’re talking actual writers, another worth mentioning is Nureador Viking the Third[?], who I think arrived later than most of those.
The one Slate podcast I still listen to regularly is Lexicon Valley.
I would think rewatching A New Hope for the 100th time would still be better than seeing Force Awakens.
No, that’s for a decade after the first reboot. There’s an order to these things. Just think of how long it took for Shakespeare’s plays to be performed with female actors in the female parts!
Very similar to the recent Ghostbusters compared to Ghostbusters 2. Your childhood was already ruined!
So he should have just quoted Tool.
Sheesh, if he’d doing better now shouldn’t you try to encourage that rather than remaining hung up on when he took a worse tack? You can note that he was singing a different tune earlier without jumping down his throat now.
It was a step above the epitome of mediocrity via reheated nostalgia that was Force Awakens, but it also contained a lot of unforced errors and even a lot of the interesting stuff he added wound up being pointless/incoherent. It’s the Rian Johnson movie I dislike the least so far, though I haven’t seen Knives Out yet…
Even with Murray, his original plan was to shoot himself on-air, and he only switched to shooting Murray after they had that argument.
But what about a gender-swapped remake?
Alternatively, having any involvement with characters in Breaking Bad tends to have downsides.
reached an alarming peak
Did you just refer to Avon Barksdale as “Black”? The Wire isn’t Moonlight!
I liked Joker, but there shouldn’t be a sequel. Scorsese movies don’t have sequels, so what would Phillips imitate for this?.
I had something similar happen with Pride and Prejudice where my European History and English classes covered it one right after the other. In my English class there was a vote whether we’d do that or Wuthering Heights, and because I had just read P&P I was one of the only people to vote against it. Out of irritation…
