That’s only true if a product page exists prior to pre-orders dropping.  If there’s no page, no bots can be crawling for changes.

Putting up orders randomly is a significantly less bot-friendly way to handle things.  Microsoft essentially told the cook groups where to be and when to be their.  Don’t put this on the retailers.

If their preorder strategy tells us anything about the games they’ll provide in this generation then Microsoft *thinks* they know what is best for the players, but, dear God, they do not.

Refusing to engage in problematic discussions and simply raging against people who disagree with you should never be considered progressive, even if the stated goal can be interpreted as being just.  Methods matter.

Unfortunately, the “set a date and time” approach to pre-orders will not prove to be any better whatsoever. Announcing a date and time for preorders is just ringing the dinner bell for cook groups.

As someone who received a Day One Xbox One with a faulty disc drive... statistics didn’t help me use the system.  I did get Forza for free though, so... That was worth it, I suppose?
