Yeah totally. So Louie can only from now on write about middle-aged, balding, pudgy white dudes? Forever? Man, I love the AV Club, but a few of their reviewers need to take the sticks out of their asses once in a while. Surprised they can even reach their keyboards from way up there on their high horses.

Don't know about that, but I wonder if he's taking that money to go pay off the gambling debt. Might be why he took the gun if he's involved with some loan shark or something.

See, I would be more ready to believe that if it wasn't for his anti-vax stance and his constant railing against the drug companies. I would not be surprised one bit if he actually believed the guy.

Yeah I've started watching Maher again now too. He's a nutcase sometimes, but he gets interesting guests on and the conversations are usually good. Except for that "I cured Charlie Sheen's cancer" guy that was on recently. Maher was totally into it too. What a rube.

I'd like to see someone take a look at the figures based on times of the year. I swear that all the northeast of the country would be the most polluted if the facts were only looking at November-March (more or less the times when the heating comes on, fueled by coal).

Haven't seen that one, but I live close to Harbin. The further north you go, the worse the pollution gets in the winter because everyone needs coal to run the heat in their houses, so in that way Harbin is worse for sure - it gets quite cold and has a long winter. But Shanxi is known for having the most coal mines

Ouch. That's the coal-mining province. No wonder there was so much smog.

Holy crap, do I love this show. What a talent Louis is, and what a fucking great actress Laurie Metcalf is. Really really felt like I was eavesdropping on an authentic, heart-wrenching conversation. And Alan Alda's line at the end was just perfect. Just 100% perfect, especially matched with Louis' expression as

That's "funny" about the smog problem he had. Wonder where he was shooting? Must have been somewhere in northeast because that's where the biggest problems tend to be (in winter anyway). Especially now with the Chinese New year celebrations and all the fireworks being lit off constantly every day - Happy New Year!

Absolutely agree. Surprised the reviewer didn't pick up on that. Must have been too busy foaming at the mouth atop his high horse.

Yeah, and moreover, he hit the nail on the head in regards to the metaphor the show is trying to portray, and then dismisses it by saying "they need to work on it more". That's the beauty of metaphor, you're not supposed to hit people over the head with it. Make the audience work for their meal.

You must have never been into "The Leftovers"….

I would too if they could lay off a little with the Stark = womanizer gags. They are getting really tiresome.

dillenger escape plan covered a track from this album, and it sounded LESS heavy and noisy. Always thought that was funny.

I just put that together that he was Mr X in the X-Files…well done! And indeed, nice to see him return to TV in a good role. I knew that his face looked familiar and couldn't place it. You just really gave me an "aha!" moment there.

Thanks so much for these articles on this show, AV Club. I have vivid memories of watching this when it came out (I was like 10 or so) - obviously I didn't get it on the same level as I would now, but I loved it!

Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii had some pretty awesome tunes in it as well, along with being one of the best platformers ever made.

I have to wait until March/April for new Americans? That just ruined my winter :(

Am I crazy, or did the Americans not make it on EITHER list?!

9 was also my favourite, but I think 12 will move past him just from the sheer fact that he will have more time to settle into the role.
