That would make him ineligible to play for the entire season, but it’d also mean the Raiders wouldn’t have to pay his guarantees. It’s the nuclear option

Again. You don’t necessarily know this. There’s been a lot of sourcing from the NFL Twitter shills, but not a whole lot directly from the NFL... have you seen something from the NFL that says his helmet was legal? Everything I’ve seen says it wasn’t. There was a list of helmets that were/are accepted and not…
Do you expect them to recertify every helmet from 8-9 years going back proactively every time standards change? Even if nobody is using them?
The 10 year thing is what really mystifies me. If you look at things like child car seats, they have an expiry date, same with protective equipment like respirators, googles, harnesses. Based on the age of his helmet, it wasn’t going to pass...and he tries painting it? Seriously?
Third and a fifth is starting to look like a steal...for the Steelers.
To be fair, he was too busy testing balcony furniture for its aerodynamics.
That all makes sense, but my hypothesis is that if AB felt like the Raiders were giving him and this issue the consideration he thinks they deserve, he would say, “OK, I’ll play in this other helmet for now till my new one is ready.”
Is. That. Helmet. Over. 10. Years. Old?
They can’t just 3d print helmets on demand; even if they could design a custom helmet in time for the beginning of the season (which seems doubtful), There’s tooling and molds that would need to be fabricated to make the new helmet. And once that’s done, they’d still need to test it. There’s no way they’d get that…
You didn’t even mention how Ben Roethlisberger is the real problem here.
By virtue of being 10 years old, his helmet from last year was on the banned list.
That's complicated, because I wouldn't want to be the helmet
Brown’s frustrated with the league, and for good reason: The NFL hadn’t banned or even tested his preferred model until he made an issue of it this summer, meaning that every other NFL player with a helmet older than a decade, including Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, had one-year grace periods to find new models they…
“We’re excited about where this franchise is headed”
Yup, the NFLPA is just as much a reason Brown won’t get any special waivers and the NFL. They don’t want to show any evidence players were willfully putting themselves into situations that caused a greater likelihood of CTE that was condoned.
Lawsuits, if Antonio Brown or any other NFL player suffers a brain injury from a custom helmet. Also, Brown is a member of the NFLPA.
“I had no idea Brown would prove to be such a disruptive headcase.”
-- absolutely no one, except Gruden

“Find a partner you love as much as Antonio Brown loves that helmet.”
