The ventilation above our stove is just the worst. It’s loud as hell and doesn’t seem to actually do anything. Replacement filters are non-existent in spite of being a name brand appliance under 5 years old. And it doesn’t actually vent anywhere...just recirculates after being “filtered”.

After hours drinks went long as we were celebrating a coworkers last day for a bit. I closed the kitchen maybe three hours ago and now we all need fried food stat.

The “egg yolk sauce” at Chicago area teppanyaki restaurants. I know it’s just mayo...I can’t reproduce it.

Interesting episode of UnderUnderstood discusses the issues with these machines and McDs corp/owners.

An excellent point.

In college I worked at a bar and grill that served food breakfast through late night. We would bake 50-100 pounds of potatoes a day. What we baked today would be either kept in a warmer for dinner service or chilled overnight (whole) in the walk in. Morning prep would then take the cold, cooked spuds and separate them

Delicious and famously worked in the Illinois Tollway collection baskets through the 90s!

Trader Joe’s sells a decent smokey, $20 bottle called Islay Storm. Decent, especially at this price point.  I’ll be trying this with a Coke tonight.

You’d buy popcorn to support a friend’s kid’s scout troop even if you didn’t like popcorn, but it’s not like that kid hits you up every month.

I’ve experienced many of the options you describe. But looking back one stands out in a way that I have to ask about.

In the 90s I was at school in Missouri and Busch/Busch Light were, at the time, “full price” beers along side Budweiser, etc. I had never heard any nickname for either other than referring the Busch as “Busch Heavy”.

Buyer beware. I went through multiple remakes after being fit in an Indochino store (Chicago). Each time the sleeves would come back 3" short. Eventually the store manager refunded my money and I gave them back their ill fitting suit. Perhaps this was an isolated incident but even in store they recommend not ordering

I was introduced to this drink while in Germany by a lovely older couple . In their broken English and my worse German, I believe they were calling this drink a “Portugueser”.  It’s not my favorite, but I won’t pretend like I didn’t drink the entire thing.

This guy markets.

If I remember correctly Target stores have plastic bag recycle drops near the customer service counter.  Does anyone know if this would be an acceptable place to bring these?  Or maybe they just end up in the trash?

Not horrible in the traditional sense, but I once watched three people argue over whether “shrimps are a vegetable” on the 151 bus.

So I’m not a bro truck guy nor a Tesla guy. As my dudes from Stuff You Should Know would say, I’m not going to yuck anyone’s yum.

First, congrats to both of you!
