But socializing! But tradition! But I went to one and I didn't rape anyone/chant racist things!

The only people that are "shocked" that this is happening in 2015 are white people. The rest of us are like "eh, it's just another [insert day of the week]."

By all accounts that SAE chant is far from unique to Oklahoma and has been around for a while - I went to Bama (where SAE was founded, sorry y'all), and a lot of fellow alumni on Facebook have said that they'd definitely heard it/been aware of it there, too. It's probably been around for decades.

What the hell's a house mother?

That is so fucking funny. It's true though. These frat douches are more concerned about maintaining their fraternities "honor", whether they're currently in a frat or are former members, than accepting the fact that their brothers are sociopathic bigots and holding them accountable for their actions. It's amazing.

Some people have to pay for friends.

There's another view of a different cellphone recording and when the guys realize they're being filmed a look of absolute horror comes across their faces.

I'm going to go ahead and say #yesallSAEs. Aligning yourself with this organization is proof enough, regardless if your specific chapter engages in this or not.

Yup. Had a burner respond to me that he was "totally and utterly" offended by my statement. Really? You align yourself and support an organization that is rampant with rape, assault, discrimination and other atrocities going back decades and you are offended?

They're totally OK with black folks who want to cook and clean for them. It's the ones that actually want to join the frat that they take issue with.

my little brother was a chapter VP and he is an asshole and so were most of his brothers. I love him but this is a well-earned rep.

What scares me is that these are our future CEOs, managers, politicians, policemen, etc., and yet people question why black people struggle in the job market. They question why black fraternities and sororities exist.

Honestly, I would love to see all fraternities and sororities go. They are basically an excuse to get drunk and treat people they perceive as outsiders like crap.

Obviously they didn't mean HIM! They meant all those other black people. /sarcasm

I called SAE assholes here once, and some burner replied to me, apparently mad that I'd had the nerve to call his "brothers" assholes, and not at all mad that they were assholes. I ignored because I don't have time in my life for that bullshit, and a full month later he responded to me again on the same thread like

she'd probably show up late, if at all, and the crowd would LOVE her for it.

This hit, that ice cold

"I didn't understand it, so I put it on my body for the rest of my life."

No apologies necessary. If anything, I'm sorry for you, their friends and family but especially . Reading about it just made my heart sad but that sadness is not comparable to how someone who actually knew them must feel.

I clicked on the link. Now I'm sick. I know we hear these horrible stories but they affect me every single time. The capacity humans have for cruelty and depravity never fails to amaze me.
