In the old medieval swordfighting schools of Germany, students were taught in concepts of ‘immediacy’ to action and reaction— to seize the initiative in a fight when your opponent starts reacting rather than acting.

Not really a moment from the show, but during college I was living off campus and everyone else in the house was gone for the weekend

Oh sure we did....to the free screenings they held the week before. By the time it was in theaters, the word had spread that NOT ONLY did Book die, but WASH DIED TWO.

I also first started with Serenity and it was... ok. Was never a big fan of Westerns and without the existing framework of the show there really wasn’t anything to write home about.

I thought it was hysterical when the film was released and that die-hard fanbase didn’t turn out to support it...

A time before Adam Baldwin publically became a horrible human being.

Yeah, I kinda wish they’d tossed it over to Fahey on Kotaku.

There’s a lego guy who’s opinion I can trust.

Not to mention it’s heavily focused on the military, and as we all know movies focused on the military make Hollywood execs all swoony.

Some God damn logic finally.

Everything in FMA is inherently European, especially Germany. There’s like less than 5 Asian characters throughout the whole series, and of those who do, they’re most likely Chinese instead of Japanese. Even regular reader could made that point easily without needing any confirmation from the writer.

No. I don’t think Patty was subtle at all.

The Punisher symbol was put on police cruisers in a town near where I live. Not the best message to send to the community.

I had no idea. I’m definitely not a Trump supporter but I do love some violent vigilante movies like John Wick.

Yeah, there’s a difference between finding a character compelling versus seemingly adopting said character’s philosophy of judge, jury, and executioner when you also happen to work for the government. Those are wildly different things.

Except that this isn’t true at all, in every article condemning it the comments were all “I love the punisher but fuck those cops.” You’re acting like you’re in some minority when most people are on the same page as you.

Our country has moved so far to the right that people who openly call themselves “conservatives” are basically authoritarians. It isn’t about consistency in the law, it’s about using your power to silence people you don’t like.

Oh I’m not disputing that his reverence among those with authority and access to firearms isn’t concerning. I’m just saying that lately it seems as though there can only be two viewpoints. You either share that sentiment and despise the character or you’re a Trump supporter.

The plain fact is conservatives are the real snowflakes, who absolutely melt down when there is a whiff of criticism. E.g. Everyone knows their reaction to Kathy Griffin’s beheading Trump tweet, but almost unknown is that there were shirts being sold of Trump beheading Hillary at the RNC convention. Also,

Jessica Jones and DD season 2 were both as good if not better than DD season 1.

Good.
