I acknowledge that women are more likely to be targeted for personal (rather than political) violence than men, both for sexual reasons and for dominance reasons. Which are sometimes the same thing, but these are bigger issues than the ones raised in this film. But in this specific case, it seems beside the point to

I really, really don't think this is a gender issue . The issue is that someone you love, and who you think loves you, proves that in a pinch, their first instinct is to throw you under the bus to save themselves.

It's entirely up to the writer to decide whether to provide one, specifically to decide whether there are issues to discuss — and different writers' mileage will vary. It was never intended as just a "here's where we give away the ending" space, because we generally like film too much to want to blow what a film is

It's incredibly gorgeous. Made me want to go do that hike myself, in spite of the awkwardness of needing a native guide and the possibility of Incidents.

Personally, I took it as really significant that they didn't ask. I wanted them to, it seemed natural for them to, and the fact that they don't, for me at least, provided a significant amount of tension throughout the film. But it's all part of the theme of lack of communication. In the same way they don't ask him

That's actually new, and not how it looked this morning. Glad the photo was big enough to accommodate that.

YMMV. I'm pretty spoiler-averse, and I don't think it spoils the movie so much as offers a framework for understanding what the movie is getting at besides spectacle and tense separate narratives.

It's not rape. Spoiler Space is now up and linked for those who want to know / discuss The Incident.

Scott and I agreed it needs one. We'll be posting it shortly.
