Do you also think the Chicago teachers' union that just went on strike should be allowed to tell, say, tutors in California what they should be paid? It strikes me as exceeding their mandate to represent professional Seattle musicians.

His recent appearance on The Moth podcast was just terrifying. He sounds so calm, talking about being railroaded, beaten, starved, and tortured in jail. And then he explains why he took the Alford plea: He was told he could sue Arkansas for millions, but realized someone in prison would be perfectly willing to stab

I lol'd.

We're not terrified of meeting the public, we've done it a bunch at readings and conventions, and it's always been a fun and satisfying experience for me. I don't think anyone wants to see us sing, though, unless someone else is doing "Tubthumping" or something else chorus-driven — and I can't see us mandating that

But where's Firefly in puppies?

@tomandlu:disqus If we've never covered a film before and there's this much to say about it, focusing solely on the minutia of transfer quality and artifacts seems awfully parochial. And we do talk about the bonus features, which in this case, is a bunch of nothin'.

Hey, "rescuer" does not necessarily mean "detective." You want THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE for that. Bernard does a hell of a lot of rescuing at the end when everyone gets captured but him.

I think it really depends on the release and the angle the individual writer wants to take. Often we use Blu-ray releases largely as an excuse to get up a review for a title we've never covered before.

We figured it'd win, but wanted to see how it stacked up to other options, and gauge interest for down the road. So far the results are pretty telling, with X-Men and Invisibles each pulling around 20-25% of the vote.

Yes! Have you read the Gallumaufry series? As far as I know, it's never been collected into a book (though I ask Phil once a year or so when I see him at cons, and he ALWAYS says yes, that's coming up Real Soon Now. It's a longtime favorite of mine. So many twists, so much plot, so smart.
