The Sword is my favorite comic of the past several years. I love the fact that it's a planned start-to-finish story with no wasted breath or keep-it-going-longer side plots, I love the character development, I love the breathless action, I love all the reversals and developments. It's one of the few comics I actively

After that, I think the discussion would mostly be "Wow, I didn't see that coming" alternated with "Is this going

Wow, The Maxx wasn't on my radar as a possible, but that would be a terrific one. I really could stand to revisit it myself, though I feel it flies off its wheels in a disappointing way eventually.

Couldn't fit this in comfortably, but they do talk about Mary Woronov specifically in the commentary — she agreed to do her cameo as a favor, but they say she spent the whole shoot cranky and acting like she didn't want to be there, probably because they were shooting all night every weeknight.

@avclub-59c4e0a1cedba7dc5ff1541ac8b60028:disqus From what I've read, the throw-the-empty-gun thing was a really standard part of the old George Reeves Superman TV show. The funny part was that Superman would just stand there and let the bullets bounce off his chest, but he'd always duck to avoid the flying gun.

The ability to Google something and answer your own questions instead of leading with "This is dumb lol" automatically puts you ahead of 50% of Internet commentors. Congrats.

As I said over at Gameological (http://gameological.com/201…, I went to Indianapolis this weekend for my first crack at GenCon, a general gaming convention (board games, card vames, video games, role-playing games, LARP, and much more). The main image on this AVQA is a picture I took there of a giant balloon dragon

Oh right! I thought you were referring to the main character, and I was pretty sure his sexuality never came up because he's an 11-year-old—and I wanted to make sure no one was going to see this film solely because it had a gay protagonist if that was just a random Internet rumor.

For the most part, the 3D in this struck me as competent but not necessary; the sets feel pretty small and limited. But some of the storm effects are amazing, and the climactic setpiece in particular looks terrific. I'd say it's worth it if you like 3D movies, but it's not mandatory.

To be fair, he got brought in to replace the experienced female director they fired. (Pretty much the same thing that happened on BRAVE, with IMO disappointing results.) So I'd expect it to have some of his quality, but not to be as fully impressive as something he originated and fought for from the start.
