"The Fall" is one of my favorite movies of all time. (It was my #1 in 2008.) I acknowledge it's flawed, but it's still such an amazing act of outsized emotion and ambition. And finding out how it was made only made it better:

Note: Scott just got back from seeing "Jack And Jill." Review of that is on the way today as well. Spoiler: He doesn't seem to think it's going to make his top 10 list for the year.
Hey now. Genevieve is the one you hate for her Ghostbusters writeup. I'm the one you hate for her G.I. Joe review. Get it straight!
You're going to be pissed off, @nooyawk.
Nope, none.
There is a single drag scene. It's tragic and painful and the implication is that it's a one-off in reaction to his mother's death, not that he was a transvestite. It's an interesting take, and a strangely believable one, if not particularly historical as far as i know.
Maybe I *am* black again, after being white for a while. I finally took off the makeup Eddie Murphy put on me for that SNL skit.
Can anyone actually picture Eddie Murphy saying the words "First and foremost, I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony," as the Academy's press release claims he did in reaction to all this? I can only…
Yowza, that's a lot of Empowered all at once. Given the price (at least via Amazon), it's definitely more economical to get the big hardcover.
They aren't "sleuthing" or claiming they know something no one else knows, they're acknowledging that the process gives a stiff result and that the kids weren't actors. Except for Linus, whom Glen specifically praises as the one kid giving a real nuanced performance.
They mock him a bit for his takedown, but I think they also clearly agree with him; note Stephen Thompson doing his "I. Just. Want. What. Is Mine." robot Lucy impression by way of agreement.
A couple people have emailed us about this; I've updated it. Thanks.
Yeah, I don't think it's designed so you can win, I think it's meant to make a moral point about fishing and/or killing and eating other living things.
Yes, people who are a century old still look 25. One of the film's only laughs comes early on when Timberlake walks into his kitchen, sees a gorgeous young thing his age, and says "Hey, mom."
At the time, I was pretty happy that it had wrapped up at all, without being canceled. But the ending did annoy me hugely, since it seems to pretty much obviate the entire last season.
"The diminishing aspect of people only getting 25 years to live"
Tragically, no. And in spite of a lot of talk about how only poor people run, no one ever actually says "Run, runner!"
Oh, I really don't think that's true. Unfortunately, we're supposed to keep these reviews short, so I couldn't get into the details, but this film is ALL ABOUT how the system is designed to keep the poor down, and how it requires a certain number of people to be poor (and to die) so a sheltered few can be rich (and…
At one point in the movie, an improbably beautiful, stylish streetwalker tells Cillian Murphy "I'll give you 10 minutes for an hour."
@avclub-2300d8171ca46be1ee5a72d2837c1b6d:disqus and @avclub-488d7018d6dfb7c874836e51b0346dfc:disqus both make good points, but on top of that, in the original Puss In Boots story, Puss is all about helping out his human master and selflessly getting him to a happy place in life. When was the last time you saw a big…
