I fully agree. He started by an emergency exit (those aren't right next to seats) and even stopped to change out a magazine. There were opportunities. This tragedy could have ended a different way.

Does a darkened room make it more difficult yes? If I was seated in one of those chairs I would be happy knowing that someone in that room had a firearm.
