There, there. Just making sure you’re alright. It’s nothing really- just adds a little character, dear.
We’re doing very nicely, thank you.
Rheinhaur Maschinen und Armaturenbau, which we’ll just refer to as RMA if you don’t mind
Indeed- given the Sprite’s propensity to rot in the shell’s many awkward places, shifting them some cash for a new one seems quite sensible.
That’s exactly what I had in mind 🙂
The only one I know the total price of for sure is the Citroën Méhari: ‘new’ old ones (i.e. VIN from an old one, most everything else new) are about $20k. So Johnny Cash style, it’d probably be a couple grand less for the pretty straightforward assembly.
Having a look now, and it’s not even just Spridgets. There seem to be some blokes in Manchester who will do you a whole new Frogeye bodyshell!
Ah, yes, of course: Landies. That’s kind of a separate case since none of the parts are especially complex or difficult to make, compared to, say, the bodyshell of a Mustang. And Landies always were more like mecano sets than a finished consumer product anyway.
I have heard similar, but that suggests that there is a difference with these repo parts that are available now. I guess it’s the difference between a hand finished part made over an unspecified period for whatever price versus a regular stock item.
Not quite, I don’t think. There’s a whole industry devoted to refurbishing these as food trucks, though, but there still seem to be enough serviceable ones to be found in the back of French barns.
Yes, those’d count, though I guess that gets into tricky territory. Given enough money, I’m sure there’ll be a shop somewhere that will make whatever ‘20s Bugatti you want from scratch.
The 55-57 Chevy Belair is another one.
Good call on the Mini Mokes.
So, not quite an immortal yet.
And brown...
