@ortizlgnd4: You have quite the eye sight then. The retina display is the best i've ever seen and best on the market. Makes 800X480 look ok.
It's really sad seeing this all unfold. It's like the iPod all over again. Apple had a "good" idea that was over priced, under developed and looked as if it was under achieving. But most importantly, they put it out there on the market. And some people bought it. Enough that it was feasible for them to go back and…
@lostarchitect: You might get that from Barnes and Noble tomorrow.
@MrRainMan: I don't know what crappy Data plan you got sucked into but I pay 30$ a month for 6GB on my iPhone with free tethering. Data is way cheaper in Canada, plus we have the most updated 3G+ network capable of 21 mbps, just like the best 3G in the states.
If I had a time machine I would go back 10 years and just freak people out.
If B&N can build a decent Android tablet for 250$, we may have an unlikely leader in the tablet market.
This is the most insane story I have ever heard. I would have manned up and fucking wrangled that thing. This isn't a 1500 lbs croc, this fits in a bag! It will bite you! Tops! Its not going to fucking kill you. You know what will? THE PLANE CRASHING. Jesus. Where did they find 20 idiots to get on the same flight.
@Akuinnen: Not relevant at all. You cannot upgrade anything in there. Unless you know a Chinese wholesale flash chip maker and amazing with a soldering iron.
800$. My goodness. Not only are you late to market, but you also not pricing it very competitively. Makes the 11.6 inch Macbook Air seems like a fricken bargain.
@Tommy Five: I sort of enjoy the rawness of it all.
If there is one thing that really gets a hard fast Apple tax its there third party accessories. 100$ for plastic and some tinny speakers? Am I high?
@LightPress: I'm a pretty committed Apple user, but I never display hate like that towards other brands. If you don't like Apple? Shut the hell up? They are aren't so bad.
@Canon7D-Fanboy: I'm so glad that this sites star commenters have such a depth of analysis and perspective. Thanks so much for your insight!
I think this will be cool. As long as they still allow side loading apps (if they ever took that away they would never sell another computer) then this will be probably the best way to discover tweaks and apps for your computer. Just like how Rosa helped me find that wonderful game Trainyard, I'm sure there will be…
@Jarek Rencz: You should have found a spot for them to put it.
@Rexter: Not a netbook. No manufacturer has been able to squeeze a quarter of the power of this thing into a package even twice as thick.
@Stefan Nowak: No one rips on the iPad 1Ghz processor. I think with the all flash storage this thing will be plenty fast on the C2D. And if you were any sort of reader here you would understand that processor speed is definitely not the only thing that determines speed anymore. Graphics, especially when handling…
@BeyondtheTech: The only other real competitor in the "real computer, real thin" landscape is the Dell Adamo. It is just as thin and it's 1.4Ghz C2D offering is 2000$. They've done the best with the space. Which they have nearly none of.
The interface is truly stunning. On a high contrast screen, the dark backgrounds and bright tiles is the most minimalist, modern, and beautiful design I've seen.
