This is perfect, could not have said it better myself.
This is perfect, could not have said it better myself.
Nobody comes out of this post looking good, not Barstool, not Deadspin. Why name him?
No, I meant ad hoc. The only purpose of the post was to attack the deeds of others. Each connection between deed and PFT was tenuous at best, since he never did any of it.
This just seems petty. If you want to go after Barstool there are SO. MANY. REASONS. But this is like going after an analyst at Enron, it is misplaced and makes no sense. At least go after that cokehead misogynist Portnoy.
I find all of the issues with Barstool’s content cited in here as valid.
I’ve been a loyal Deadspin reader for years, well before I ever heard of Barstool. While I read parts of Barstool, I don’t read all of it, and I am not a “stoolie,” or whatever reductive term you’d prefer in order to minimize my opinion. The assholes probably yelling at you on twitter right now will get the headlines,…
I am a big Pardon My Take fan and very much enjoy PFT and Big Cat’s rapport and sense of humor. At the same time, I also agree with the many, many criticism’s of Barstool. However, I’m not sure I can get on board with the tone of this article. PFT has never engaged with the behavior outlined and in the past has…
Ok, cool, his name is Eric.
Well written, poorly thought out and thinly veiled jealousy from Barstool’s DC (direct competition). See that’s how you make a funny, I compared you to DC implying Barstool is Marvel... see one is floundering movie franchise....the other.... ahhh nevermind
“It could be that PFT Commenter wants to be anonymous because Eric Sollenberger doesn’t want his real name—his real life—to be associated with Barstool Sports.”
He used the PFT Commenter well before joining barstool. It’s more likely that he used the pseudonym because it ramps up the silly. Like his quote... it’s…
That’s the thing, as someone who has been here awhile, there was a time where I’d say Deadspin’s moral stance was closer to Barstool’s current attitude than it is to the Deadspin of today. We’re talking about a site that used to celebrate and publicize “dong pics” of athletes in locker rooms. Not to mention maybe the…
Someone is jealous of their arch nemesis’ success. Maybe you should stop writing hit pieces and slinging mud. Focus on making your own publication better. I am a Deadspin reader, but your site has gotten exponentially worse over the last year. I could chalk it up to your parent company going bankrupt, but that doesn’t…
I’ve never understood the appeal of Barstool but I do think PFT is funny. It’d be great if he was able to do his act with a different company but it didn’t seem like anyone was willing to invest in him.
I read Deadspin pretty much every day. I occasionally read some of Barstool as well, because sometimes they have random stuff I can read or check out if bored at work and I’ve already run through the usual sites I read. I’m not sure what this article is trying to accomplish.
Y’all know you’re Deadspin, right?
Just seems like you’re mad at PFT for having shitty friends. And it comes across as pretty much just a personal gripe at the end. I think Barstool sucks and almost everyone that writes there is an idiot but why’s PFT responsible for all the shitty things that have ever been done there. Wouldn’t hold all the ridiculous…
I agree that the rest of Barstool is fratty gutter humor and their fans are usually even worse. But PFT Commenter is smart, clever, and one of the most unique bits in sports journalism culture, clearly more talented than anyone else on the Barstool roster. It’s unfortunate that joining Barstool was probably his chance…
jesus this is dick move, the dude literally wrote a couple articles for deadspin and is friends with easily the most talented writer here, aka Drew. Of course his info can be found out easily. But does this article gain anything by doxxing him? The points can be made without using his real name and would still be just…
“The Post story reads as if you’d run its predecessors through an algorithm”
I’ve been reading more of Barstool lately.
