Interesting that you say the Terra and Strada Huskies of the BMW days were terrible. I’ve read good things and the guys over at Motorcyclist Magazine even rated the Strada as a better all-rounder than the 690 Duke.

If we’re all going to ‘geek out’ on IMS issues then I’ll point out that Gen 1 997's like this one would have had the 5-speed torque converter auto not a PDK like you say in the article. The dual-clutch box didn’t show up ‘till like ‘09.

I worked as a mechanic at Porsche in Aus’ for a number of years. Someone once ordered a Cayenne Turbo with one of these wooden trimmed steering wheels but also wanted it to be heated...sadly it was one or the other. He decided holding hard, shiny wood in his hands on a daily basis was more important.

Nothing about this is appealing to me. If I want to get somewhere fast, I catch a plane. If I want to take the ‘route less travelled’ and experience it on the way, I take my bike.

I sold my 2009 ZX10R and bought a BMW F700GS. Probably a ‘downgrade’ in a lot of people’s books, but it’s plenty of bike for the road. Sure the ZX’ was great when I got to the track a couple of times each year, but the BMW is great the other 95% of the time.

Finish restoring my 1977 BMW 633csi. That should leave me with enough money to register it for the year...

I’m really disappointed with my AGV Dual Sport Evo. Like you, after wearing it for the first time it now has two great big scratches up the inside of the visor from where the seal drags on it when opening and closing. On the plus side it’s light...should have spent the extra on the Arai.

Police in Australia love BMW R and K 1200s and interestingly FJR1300s despite their age. Canberra (the nation’s capital) got a couple of Harleys a number of years ago. They were for parade purposes only though and didn’t stick around for long at all.
