I can see why people lose their patience with film crews-I really do. But they attack the people who literally had zero say in where we were filming and have no recourse in defending themselves. They just have to stand there and take it which is why I think people do it. People can’t attack the producers or the

Maybe folks should complain to their landlords-they’re the ones letting us in 🤷🏾‍♀️

Sorry that’s been your experience. I wonder if it’s a New York thing as New York people tend to be a bit more...brusque and direct than other people. I’ve really only dealt with nicer/chill PAs in LA. I’ve dealt with very few who were mean about not letting me walk somewhere.

Sorry to disappoint you but yes, I have. And I was polite and have never waited more than 5 minutes before I was able to go by. Most of the time it was around 30 seconds to a minute.

You have literally described what we do.

The most disappointing part of this thread is realizing just how many of these people (who are supposed feminists or people who care about the ‘little guy’) would happily be an asshole to a minimum wage worker who is already working crazy long hours and probably pretty miserable just because they’ve asked them to wait

Fair enough, what would be a solution?

Wiping yourself is actually not hard-you just extend the TP you cover your fingers with a bit further than normal and you’re good to go.

If I had the money, I would so do this. But like, different wings of the same house or different floors of the same building. Being on top of another adult, no matter how much I love them, gets really irritating to me after awhile.

Person A is a person at the bottom of the pecking order who has no power to decide not to tell people to not go in their homes.

I’m enjoying how you seem to know that information as well and clearly didn’t read that she went on ahead anyway and nothing happened to her.

How long do you think a lock up is? Do you think we’re keeping people from entering their homes all day?

No one is surprised when people are mean to us. It’s expected because we literally have no power and everyone is allowed to yell at us.

Except all that doesn’t really matter because they have the time and money to do that, especially a successful show like Law & Order that has plenty of money and prep time. They build such possible scenarios into the budget because sometimes they get behind and can’t shoot everything on the schedule that day and lose

I completely agree. There are asshole PAs who need to pipe the fuck down and I fully support telling them off.

I fully understand that it is really annoying to have a film crew pop up out of nowhere. I’ve been that film crew. Usually we’ll put up signs warning of filming but every now and then a job will come together too quickly for that to happen and we just deal with the fallout. No one wants to be that film crew but

For a few minutes at a time, maybe once or twice in the entire time they live there.

I’m an office PA but sometimes I get asked to do lockups (that’s the word for asking pedestrians to wait while we’re shooting) and I used to be a set PA who did lockups all the time. Lockups suck because of people like you.

OH!

It’s likely your friend is exaggerating.
