Why would it matter if the model is recent or not? It's not like the Mayans have a recent calendar model.

Nothing's "wrong". There's no demand for all these towers in the US. Why should we build skyscrapers just to build them? If you think that's a sustainable business model then by all means go for it yourself.

Apples and oranges. Sounds like you need to read the article again. It's not the part that matters as much as the increased contamination risk.

Not sure why people seem to love to cite cost of materials. A pile of materials, no matter what its cost, is just a pile of materials until it has been worked on. The final product isn't just the materials but the labor as well.

Nothing stupid about it. You're apparently asserting that two devices cannot be compared unless they're released at exactly the same time? One device will almost always be newer than the other one that it is being compared to.

Ground means soil/dirt (as well as the Earth's surface). When did it not? In this context, the top of the structure effectively extends the Earth's surface anyway. It's not like it's a green roof on a skyscraper.
