Yeah, I get that - and it sucks! - but that is extra power that you sell to the power company, not power you have already bought from them.

None of these technologies are used at the insanely massive scale of power grids, yet. There are some variations such as hydroelectricity reservoirs used as “batteries”, but it’s still limited.
Yes, but also no. So the thing is, the grid is “relatively” stable, but there are little variations due to the fact that you can’t really store electricity. That means what is produced must match exactly what is consumed at any given time. What this tech would enable is to have small variations while maintaining…
Had the cyclist knocked off the Jeep’s mirror, pretty sure he would have been charged with a felony.
Perfect visibility, straight line, already almost out of its lane and no attempt at avoidance? This driver needs a drug test, BAC test and logbook check... Either high, drunk or asleep!
Aside from having French on the side, Quebec fire trucks are absolutely the same as every other firetruck I’ve seen in North America, sound included.
It was an A330 actually, the A350 wasn’t out at that point. The captain actually doesn’t make inputs until the last minute of the fall, at which point they’re at 12,000 feet falling between 10 and 14k feet a minute. The whole thing barely lasts 3 minutes. At 12k feet, it was too late to do anything.
Tesla is pretty expensive already (although it’s much worse here in Canada due to the rate of exchange). I also don’t think there is any chance of Tesla sticking to its MSRP when (if?) the Cybertruck launches.
Well, I make pretty good money and I sure can’t afford one. I can afford an EV though, I have deposits on more than one, and will buy the first one that I can actually get my hands on. Every one of them has better build quality than Tesla, which is my point.
Tesla, cool tech, but shit execution. Seems crazy, but I wish Tesla was more like Apple. Sure, it’s a premium product that costs more than the “equivalent”, but there is no argument that despite its pitfalls, a Macbook Pro is a near perfect execution of a laptop computer. That’s why it’s worth the expense to a lot of…
I’m in Canada, maybe that’s why then.
I am actively shopping for an electric vehicle. Despite everything I have heard, I wanted to try a Tesla for myself. The sales rep basically laughed at me, said I was an idiot for even considering to buy anything else, said I didn’t need to test drive one to make a decision and said they don’t do test drives anyway.
Yeah, I went into a mix of HR and IT and now I’m home every night and making 3x my paramedic salary. It was a long journey, and when I see what’s happening in Ukraine part of me still wants to go... But I know I made the right choice.
I left in 2015 with severe PTSD, and discovered then that the government-funded program to help with PTSD covers the military, fire, law enforcement, nurses, doctors, orderlies, RNAs but not EMS.
In most (but not all) of Canada, EMS is public and is still facing massive worker shortages. The few areas with for-profit EMS are much, much worse off.
What the fuck are these people protesting for? I’m in Canada and all pandemic control measures are either gone or actually being rolled back in the coming days or weeks. I can’t imagine there are any left in the US. What’s the hold up again?
Then let’s do it the right way, declare it an illegal protest, and declare the organizers a terrorist group. We’ve done it for the Proud Boys and similar Nazis. Then they can get the proper RCMP and CAF treatment.
As much as I dislike them and what they stand for, I think sending the military on Canadians protesting would be a terrible decision with long-lasting consequences. A joint effort led by the RCMP, involving the police services of Ottawa and Gatineau, the OPP and QPP would probably be the right solution. Not the…
No good solution to this. This is why governments can’t negociate with terrorists (no, I’m not calling these people terrorists).
You do make a good point. There is no good solution to this.
