@FordGTGuy: "WAS", not "is". The F-14 has been retired.

@DJ-Christ-2006: It had a high angle of attack on landing. The "droop snoot" was to improve visibility for the flight crew. IIRC, it was also a feature of the planned Boeing SST, and the Tupelov SST

@Axilon: I suspect.... that if this titanium is well-fused, not only will it NOT blend, it will eat the blender.

@sirrix: Parodies that are different enough are covered by fair use and are not subject to royalties or copyright violation.

@the-resonator: At least the A## will be close (there actually IS a difference in pitch between A## and B...just not on a piano...) but if you're playing E##, that's not an F... it's an F#. There's no black key between E and F. Same thing with B and C... B## is very close to C#, not C. Again, no black key between

Do not take ANY of the information presented in the above post by sirrix as fact. It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

@Darkensee: Really? How do you feel about hovering below the top of the riverbank in those conditions, with your main rotor hitting the embankment?

@mrphoneface: Yes, in fact I did a test shortly after signing up, paying myself by entering the number manually. Worked perfectly.

@CodyChat: Windy, behind a bridge in turbulent air... in near whiteout conditions... with other rescue workers danger close... and at one point, he's hovering so tightly to the embankment that the main rotor is kicking up _grass_ and _dirt_ from the riverbank, through 6 inches of snow. And let's not forget it was

@DeadWriter: Then you missed the best example of piloting EVER with a rotary wing aircraft.

Yeah, right... the "Square" card reader. I've been waiting, what... 8 months for one?

So building a backpack with nozzles, that you can plug into a fire hose, costs over $100,ooo?

@Phrosty: Somehow, I have my doubts that anything short of a full-face welder's mask is going to be terribly effective protecting against this laser... and good luck with that trying to drive a small boat.

@onicon: Didn't they say something in the article about the beam being a meter in diameter? And a word or two about sunglasses only making it worse?

Bad timing, Giz... a large swath of the US warmed up this week. Should have done this before New Years before the heat wave hit. Even LA would have been able to participate.

@Moonshadow Kati: While the gas giants themselves may be "worthless"... if they're in the Goldilocks zone... and they happen to have moons of their own... the scientific value could literally be infinite.

@Dan Davis: Mozart or Beethoven would be more appropriate....
