I will defer to your knowledge, as mine is almost nil. I just know I never had any kind of hyper-realism on my 60Hz HDTV. It looked sharper but the clarity on this new one is ridiculous.

I did have to go in and adjust some settings as it was freaky looking at first. I put it in movie mode to make it look real. It was like an acid trip at first. Anyways, the difference between my 60Hz TV and this new Samsung is night and day.

I just meant it has the kind of hyper-realism that makes it look like it is shot on hi-def video. Maybe I misunderstood the soap opera effect comment in the article.

Refresh rate in HDTV has the same effect. I had a 60Hz TV and just got a 120Hz and it took me about two weeks to get over the soap-opera effect, but now it is just incredible. Same thing happened with 48fps.

If this is anything like The Weeping Lotus case, this guy is pretty sure the monkey did it.
