Cant remember exactly how long it took. But i think it was between 10 and 20 hours. I did explore everywhere and did almost every side quest and some optional post game stuff. Id say just the story will take between 8 and 10 hours.

You dont have to worry about that. The base youve built will be removed from game each time you log off, and will be added back to the game next time you log on. You never have to worry about your base being destroyed while youre offline
