I feel that you sort of are doing an unfair comparison. All those games are motion captured and they maybe are a tenth of the length of a modern Bioware game. The animations in those games are really top notch and it isn’t really fair to compare it to a game that have so much more stuff. Compare it to other AAA RPG

Alternate, “The Botox craze of the 2000's irreversibly altered humanity’s DNA to have extremely plastic-like skin where displaying emotion became too difficult.”

“The characters left during the ME2 time period so of course that’s when we rendered them!”

Hahah, imagine that was Bioware’s actual defence xD

No, that’s not correct. The “valley” is a proposed dip in reaction at a particular level of realism, not a term to describe the difference between the artificial and real. See this diagram:

I’m not sure if it is getting worse or if I am just finally noticing it but I had to drop I09 from my news feed because almost every article was some variation on “this is why you should hate this.” I mean that is the exact opposite reason of why I love nerd culture. It should be “This is why we are excited and love

The internet is a shitty place.

Everyone uses the term ‘uncanny’ valley, especially since Rogue One and the digital add-ins, likely because its a fun tech buzzword to throw around

Yah, but they’re making heavy use of motion capture actors and have a considerably smaller set of cutscenes, dialogue, and characters to work with.

As someone who loved the ending of Mass Effect 3 (alien vs. familiar, organic vs. synthetic, transhumanism!), and who also thoroughly enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition (twice), I know I’m currently inclined to like a new Bioware game. Bias recognized.

Please everybody, let´s them catch a breake, the characters where like 600 year frozen before arrive to Andromeda of course they have problems moving or talking, it´s not a technical issue... IT´S SCIENCE!!

Presumably because it would be forged outside of Sauron’s influence and thus would not be subject to The One Ring. Sauron was involved with the creation of the other rings in some fashion, which is part of why The One Ring held influence over them.

Canon compared to what? The books, movies, and games are all their own separate thing.

We know that Gollum was taken into Mordor and tortured by Sauron’s men in order to extract his information on the Ring (that it was taken by Baggins of the Shire) between the events of The Hobbit and LotR. His being here doesn’t contradict anything I’m aware of.

Compared to The Hobbit movies, this game respects canon more.

You really wouldn’t like the Star Wars Extended Universe then.

What doesn’t make sense is why Calibrimbor would think another RoP would be a good idea?

Gollum had a good reason to be there, as he was there in the books. The weird “generals” or whatever they were called, not so much. And ofcourse the whole deal with Celebrimbor and his relationship to the One Ring was completely botched.

It was my Game of the Year. I’m not a huge LOTR fan so I just injoyed it as an independent RPG were you slaughter Orcs and Goblins. You use the combat system in a game where you fight over groceries in a Publix and I would enjoy.

It was a good starting point, especially given the weak library at the time. From a sequel I want so much more.
