David E. Davis, Jr. hired my mom to be Automobile's office manager in the late 1990s. As a budding car enthusiast, I spent as much time as possible inside the magazine's 120 East Liberty Street headquarters, learning everything I could from Davis, Jean Jennings, and the rest of the editorial staff, not to mention

I imagine you heard all sorts of fun stories of his and the former Ms. Lindamood's adventures. Just that you got to work with Jean Jennings it massively cool. I've been a fan of her's since her Car and Driver days.

Jean saved my ass too many times to count. She kept me employed at Automobile when everyone else thought it was a foolish thing to do. And, forgive the imagery, but she taught every one of us how to whip it out and lay it on the table every month. There's only one Jean!

I met Jean Jennings at the beginning of June 2011. I was sitting at an interview (fresh out of college, hoping to be one of AutomobileMag.com's new Associate Web Editors) with two senior-level editors when Ms. Jennings whisked in clutching Evo's 2011 Speed Issue. She leaned against a filing cabinet, flipped through a

PJ O'Rourke was in the early mag. I remember laughing out loud in class in high school reading about Darth Vader's New Buick. Brand new mag - hilarious as my coveted and much missed Car & Driver had been.

Did you get your start working for Automobile or otherwise work with Jean Jennings? Drop us a note in the comments below and share your story.

pure f—king bullshit. PURE bullshit!!

After the demise of SCC, I have little love for Source Interlink. When you only know one thing, a paradigm shift is lethal. I'm sorry for those who lost their jobs in this.

Seriously. Automobile is the only car magazine I have maintained a subscription to (still get it monthly). I am sure that Jean will land on her feet, and hopefully will continue in the industry. And Ezra Dyer already writes for multiple outlets. But Kitman? Cammisa? Where will they go? This is horrible news. I love(d)

While I let my subscription to Automobile lapse a few years ago, this does make me kind of sad. They had some great writers and personalities at Automobile. I loved their slogan of "no boring cars." Jean is a legend and a wonderful storyteller. Perhaps some of them can drop in here every now and then.

Wow, that's very sad indeed. Jean had been there pretty much forever, carrying on the tradition of the late, great, David E. Davis, Jr. Hey, I like Jalopnik as much as anyone, but the print folks have a role, too, diminished as it may be.

This sucks. I like Automobile because it was more style and culture based and had great articles and used car advice. It was...at the very least...different in the marketplace.

HAHAHAAHAHAA!

Huh? He moved him out of the way so the car could go, not so it wouldn't run over him.
