It's not misogynistic just because this time they chose not to have female playable characters. I don't like it either but let's not straw-man the developers here. How does this game hate women just because you can't play as women? And remember this is a Japanese game so it's not about white dudes.

They have no reason to feel obligated to create female leads or even characters, especially since they have already done that before. If they DID feel that obligation, which they might, the female characters created from that are likely to be there only as "void fillers" and everyone will hate them anyway.

Yeah because we've barely had any female characters in ff at all.The last three games had a female protagonist and there have been female party memories since the first game. There are many side games and spin offs of this series with female main characters and party members.
